Cotton Factory Hollow Bridge over I-890 in Schenectady reopens; Connects Hamilton Hill to Mont Pleasant – The Daily Gazette

SCHENECTADY — Following a months-long closure, the Francis Avenue Bride that runs over I-890 and connects the Hamilton Hill and Mont Pleasant neighborhoods, officially reopened Tuesday.

The bridge, also known as the Cotton Factory Hollow Bridge, closed in March in order to accommodate a $3.2 million deck replacement project that included new sidewalks and improved lighting along the deteriorating roadway. Tioga Construction completed the project, which was paid for using a state grant the city was awarded in 2018.

Officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the roadway’s reopening.

Mayor Gary McCarthy, in a statement, said the improved roadway complements recent pedestrian improvements at the Forest Road and Francis Avenue intersection.
