Upgrade to Vernon sewer plant delayed by supply chain issues | Vernon

VERNON — The $69.5 million upgrade to the town’s Water Pollution Control Facility has been delayed because of difficulties in receiving needed equipment and materials.

The upgrades to the plant are planned to allow the facility to meet federal and state water treatment standards over the next few years.

The upgrade is funded in part by a $25.7 million grant from the state’s Clean Water Fund. Vernon taxpayers will pay about $34.3 million for the project, while the other towns served by the facility — Ellington, Manchester, South Windsor, and Tolland — will contribute the remaining funds.
