Fair Oaks Foods Breaks Ground on Davenport Bacon Factory

This afternoon in northwest Davenport, Fair Oaks Foods held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new, 150-thousand square foot plant.

Joe Freda, Fair Oaks Foods Chief Operating Officer, says in early 2024, the company will begin hiring nearly 250 employees to work at the highly automated plant.

Tami Petsche, from the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, says when Fair Oaks came to Davenport for a site visit, she was thrilled to hear it wanted to become a real community partner. She says the construction of the factory and its operation will amount to $182 milion in economic impact for the entire region.

The Fair Oaks bacon will come from pork bellies sourced from Tyson, Smithfield, and many other companies in the midwest.

Construction of the $134 million is expected to take two years.

Financial incentives include 60%, 15-year Tax Increment Financing from the City of Davenport, and a state sales tax rebate.
