New York’s flagship offshore wind supply chain project faces lawsuit and regulators’ concerns

The fate of New York’s premier offshore wind supply chain project, a planned $350m tower manufacturing facility adjacent to the Port of Albany, faces legal and regulatory opposition from residents and federal agencies as it awaits key permits.

The project has won federal and state financial backing including a $29.5m grant from the US Department of Transportation (DoT)’s Maritime Administration (Marad) and $40m from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (Nyserda), which oversees the state’s offshore wind development.
