Colorado advances plans to win approval to import medicines from Canada

The Biden administration may have signed a law designed to lower prescription drug prices, but Colorado state officials are pressing ahead with plans to win federal approval to import medicines from Canada — and have now signed contracts with two wholesalers as a key part of the effort.

One agreement was made with a wholesaler located in Canada, which would purchase medicines specifically for the Colorado program. The other wholesaler, which is based in Boise, Idaho, would act as the primary distributor by selling prescription drugs to pharmacies in the state. It would also oversee laboratory testing and product re-labeling.
