For $18M, Chicago real estate titan buys Douglas, Uxbridge land for 1M-sq.-ft. warehouse

An entity registered to executives of CRG, a division of Chicago real estate giant Clayco, Inc. has purchased more than 63 acres of land in Douglas and Uxbridge for $17.6 million for a proposed warehouse facility of over 1.1 million square feet.

The project is expected to cost over $100 million and will provide approximately 450 permanent jobs.

Plans were submitted by CRG to the Uxbridge Planning Board on May 9 for the facility. Most of the facility will be in Douglas.

The seller is Davis Street LLC, an entity registered to Kevin Lobisser, president of Lobisser Building Corp. of Milford, and co-owner of Lobisser and Ferreira Construction, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.

Davis Street LLC purchased seven lots at and near the location of the proposed facility in May through July for a combined $3.75 million, according to the Worcester registry.

CRG develops projects in every sector. It has many large industrial projects across the country including 10 branded as The Cubes. The nearest of these is The Cubes at Plainville, a 662,500-square-foot facility in Plainville, Mass.

The entity which purchased the Uxbridge-Douglas property is called Cubes at Gilboa.

The proposed site is on the other side of Route 146 from the Blackstone Logistics Center, a 646,000-square-foot facility in Douglas, Sutton, and Uxbridge, which is under construction.

The Town of Douglas received a $3-million grant in December from the MassWorks’ infrastructure program for water and sewer upgrades benefitting the two projects.
