Russian forwarders defy sanctions with own liner services to Asia

Russian forwarders have launched their own liner services connecting domestic ports — but not enough to plug the gap left by carriers that have abandoned the country.

Leading liner operators massively scaled back their involvement in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.

But two Russian or Chinese transport entities have stepped forward to establish separate services connecting Russia’s Far East with China.

A third Russian company is launching a start-up liner service connecting St Petersburg with India.
