Sheriff’s office on scene after shooting at Groveport factory

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office reports a suspect is in custody after a person was shot Monday morning at a food facility in Madison Township near Groveport.

Around 5:20 a.m., the sheriff’s office began receiving calls from employees at SK Food Group, located at 3301 Toy Road, about a shooting at the facility. 

Deputies and officers from multiple jurisdictions responded to the scene.

One person was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition. 

A suspect has been taken into custody.  A SWAT team from the sheriff’s office searched the building to ensure there were no other victims and no active threat.  

Employees were evacuated and traffic in the area of warehouse buildings east of Alum Creek Drive is tied up. 

No additional information was immediately available. 

According to the company’s website, SK Food Group provides “handcrafted sandwiches, wraps, snacks, flatbreads, burgers, protein snacks” and other food items to other food service brands.
