Even though summer hasn’t *officially* started yet, I’m already noticing a distinct trend in my warm-weather style: I cannot stop buying (and wearing) dresses. Shorts have historically been the staple of my summer wardrobe. That is, until I discovered comfortable T-shirt dresses while working from home during the pandemic, and my collection of fashionable frocks has only grown since. It recently got one dress larger, when I stumbled upon this easy-to-wear linen dress from J. Crew Factory that’s 39 percent off right now.

While I’m always eager to discover new brands, I’ve found that J. Crew Factory is a consistent win for me. My most recent purchase, the Linen-Blend Ruffle-Sleeve Tiered Mini Dress, is yet another successful buy. This dress is made with a mixture of linen and viscose, so it’s light and breezy to throw on—plus, it pulls right over your head and even has pockets. It comes in four colors (pink, white, marigold, and a light-wash blue), so I was able to choose the hue that best suits my coloring and style as well as the size that best fits my petite frame. (It’s available in sizes 00-20 in both classic and petite cuts.)

And the cherry on top? It’s currently on sale for $59.50.

I was originally drawn to this dress because it’s made of linen—a quintessential summer fabric that’s having even more of a moment thanks to the “coastal grandmother” trend. I also thought the tiers, length, and flirty ruffle sleeves would add just the right amount of pizazz without overtaking my petite frame (I’m 5 feet 2 inches tall). After some difficult decision making, I landed on the marigold floral pattern (I love wearing bright colors during the summer!) and found my correct size with the help of the site’s “What Size Fits Me Best” feature.

Although I felt hopeful from the moment I placed my order, I was not expecting this dress to blow me away. But it absolutely did. The flutter sleeves are as pretty as I had envisioned, the length hits a few inches above my knees, and the fit is what I can best describe as “comfy loose.” I’m also completely sold on the linen-blend fabric. It offers more structure than a cotton dress, so I feel confident wearing it from day-to-night, and the weight of linen is worth all the hype.

Thanks to my newfound love of dresses, my yellow ruffle-sleeve J. Crew Factory dress is my new go-to staple of the season. It’s definitely worth the $59.50 price, especially when I think about how much wear it’s going to get this summer.
