Fiber Broadband Spending Remains Resilient, Despite Supply Chain Constraints

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—Despite ongoing supply chain issues, fiber deployments boosted global revenue for the broadband access equipment market to $4.4 billion in Q1 2022, a 14% bounce from Q1 2021, according to a new report from Dell’Oro Group.

The spending growth comes at a time when the U.S. government has been providing subsidies for rural broadband network improvements, 5G fixed wireless services have been gaining traction and operators have been speeding up their fiber deployments to attract subs in an increasingly saturated broadband market.
