Govt Starts Procurement Process Of Smartphones | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The state government has floated a tender inviting telecom/mobile service operators/companies to participate in the bidding for the procurement of smartphones as a part of the government’s plan to distribute free smartphones to 1.33 crore women in the state, said an official in the state’s information technology (IT) and communication department.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced during this year’s budget presentation that 1.33 crore women in the state would be given free smartphones along with free data for three years. The smartphones will be distributed to female heads of a family and it is necessary for them to have Jan Aadhar cards. The state government plans to start distribution of mobile phones by August this year, the official said.
“The procurement process of mobile phones has already started. The tender has been issued by RajComp Info Services Ltd (RISL). Telecom service operators like Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL and others can participate in the tender process,’ said the official.
The few conditions laid for the mobile companies include that the company should have the license to provide mobile services in Rajasthan, it should have mobile towers in the state and it should also have block level and district level local support offices.
