Local travel agent arrested after shipping cannabis parcels to SAR via post




A 40-year-old local travel agent has been detained over suspicions of being involved in shipping cannabis parcels via post to the SAR from overseas, after a joint investigation between Macau police and Hong Kong Customs.

The suspect was intercepted yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon when he went to pick up his mail at the central post office parcel collection point.

The packages he received contained six packets of cannabis wrapped in tin foil, weighing 140.45g, with a black market value of about MOP148,000 (US$18,306).

The suspect later admitted buying the drugs online and sending them to Macau from the “Americas”, with police not specifying the exact country or countries of origin.

Grinders and smoking tools at his residence in Taipa and the investigation will continue, police authorities added.
