After a welcome week off, the NASCAR Xfinity Series ventures to Texas Motor Speedway for a Saturday race on the eve of the NASCAR All-Star Race. The SRS Distribution 250 is the 12th event of the season, and those who haven’t won yet are starting to feel desperate.
Saturday’s race will be contested over 167 laps (250.5 miles), with stage breaks after 40 and 80 laps. Kyle Busch won last year’s race, but he is not entered in the Xfinity event this year.
No Question That Noah Gragson Has the Car to Beat at Texas This Week
It’s not hard to pick the favorite for Saturday’s SRS Distribution 250 at Texas Motor Speedway. Look no further than the driver who will start the race from the pole position.
JR Motorsports’ Noah Gragson edged fellow Chevy driver Tyler Reddick for the top starting spot in Friday’s qualifying session. Gragson then said his car was the best he’s had all year.
That’s all we needed to know to make Gragson—a two-time winner this year—our choice to take the checkered flag this weekend.
In his last three starts at Texas, Gragson has finished second, seventh, and third. We think he’ll find Victory Lane for the first time at the track on Saturday.
Oddsmakers have Gragson as co-favorite at +400 (DraftKings Sports) with rising NASCAR Cup star William Byron, who is moonlighting in the lower series this week.
But we like the Xfinity Series regular on the high-speed Texas track.
After a Strong Effort in Time Trials, Ryan Truex Is an Undervalued Commodity
Consider these three bullet points: first, Ryan Truex was fastest in NASCAR Xfinity practice on Friday afternoon.
Second, Truex qualified fifth during time trials. Third, Truex is driving the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, one of the best cars in the Xfinity garage.
Truex has the equipment to win the race if he can overcome the impatience born of an intense desire to prove himself behind the wheel.
With Jason Ratcliff as his crew chief, we think Truex can finish strong at Texas, and he’s attractively priced. He’s +1500 to win and +400 to run in the top three, both via DraftKings.
If you prefer the Toyotas over the Chevrolets in this race, Truex is worth a play.
Even as Xfinity Champion, Daniel Hemric Is Still Searching for Validation
By now, the story should be familiar. In a major upset last year, Daniel Hemric won the NASCAR Xfinity Series title when he collected his only national series victory at Phoenix Raceway.
After an offseason move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Kaulig Racing, Hemric is still looking for a second career win. In 11 races this season, he has finished in the top five just once—at 1.5-mile Las Vegas.
In his last two starts at Texas, however, Hemric has run fourth and second, and we think he’s due for another strong run on Saturday, even though the Kaulig equipment hasn’t been consistently at or near the top of the speed chart this season.
At +2500 via DraftKings, Hemric is a bargain, even though he will start 11th. He’s also paying +700 for a top-three finish and +300 for a top five.
