Wind giant Vestas unwraps ‘supply chain-familiar’ V163 in bid for more power but less disruption

Vestas unveiled its V163-4.5MW turbine as a power production-boosting variant of one of its most successful models, in a move that stressed a desire for increased performance without needing a tear-up of the existing wind power supply chain in uncertain times.

The new machine is a scaled-up addition to the Danish giant’s long-established 4MW platform, flying 80.1-metre blades but sharing most of the features of the V150 that has been ubiquitous in orders in multiple markets over the last few years.
