Gujarat: 3 killed in cement factory blast in Rajkot | Rajkot News

RAJKOT: Three labourers working with a cement factory in Rajkot district were killed in a massive explosion that took place when they were working early on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at around 5am in the unit of Hi-Bond Cement located on Gondal-Jetpur highway.
Those who died were Ashish Solanki (25), a resident of Devalpur village of Gir-Somnath district; Rahul Pampaniya (22) from Sutrapada town and Amar Vishwakarma (33), a native of Uttar Pradesh. Police said all were staying in the labour colony of the cement factory. “All were working in the night shift. Early in the morning, they were carrying out welding work of a chemical tank filled with inflammable liquid, when a massive blast occurred. One person died on the spot,” said SG Keswala, investigating officer, Gondal Taluka police station.
Two others died in the hospital, police said. Gondal taluka police registered an offence against two engineers – Vishal Kachela and Malav Patel – under IPC sections 304 (a) and 114. It’s stated in the complaint filed by investigation officer Keswala that negligence of engineers caused this accident. They were allegedy negligent in the work that was started without proper permission and in the absence of experts.
