Tree seedling distribution this Saturday – The Daily Reporter

GREENFIELD – Free tree seedlings will be available at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23 in honor of the 150th Arbor Day. Regreening Greenfield is hosting the distribution event, which is at the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza and will continue while supplies last. Parking is on American Legion Place.

Available species are Red Pine, White Pine, Persimmon, Sweetgum, Shellbark Hickory, American Plum, Redbud and Shingle Oak. Donations are welcome; proceeds benefit Regreening Greenfield’s tree-planting projects throughout the city.

The local Arbor Day Celebration supports Regreening Greenfield’s mission to contribute to the quality of community life through preservation of the city’s urban forest, according to a press release from the organization. It is also one of the qualifications for Greenfield’s Arbor Day Foundation Tree City designation.
