Critical minerals and the supply chain disruption

This interview is from SDPB’s daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.

You may be familiar with the concept of supply chain disruption and shortages. On In the Moment, Lori Walsh asks how critical minerals are also vulnerable to shortage and disruptions.

Brett Carlson is assistant professor of Materials & Metallurgical Engineering at South Dakota Mines. He’s giving a presentation on the topic at the upcoming STEAM Cafe on April 19.

He joins Walsh to explain how a shortage of elements like cobalt can have a ripple effect which spans the globe.
