akkireddygudem: Locals Demand Closure Of Factory | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: People in Akkireddygudem staged a protest at the factory demanding permanent closure of Unit 4 of Porus Laboratories where the mishap happened. They alleged that effluents from the factory unit were polluting water bodies and affecting farming. Around four hundred people led by trade union leaders staged protest and tried to enter the factory. Police stopped them outside the unit. Tense atmosphere prevailed after the protesters started an argument with police . M Nagaratnamma, a resident of Akkireddygudem, told TOI, “No one knows about the chemical which is manufactured inside the factory.” TNN
