Roofing company sells Worcester property to competitor

Heritage Wholesalers, a Worcester-based roofing company, sold its Crescent Street location to another roofing firm, Greenwood Industries, Inc., for $950,000 in a deal closed Thursday.

Steven Fields, the president of Heritage Wholesalers, was the seller in Thursday’s deal, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.

Heritage is a subsidiary of Texas-based building supply company SRS Distribution, and has been in existence since 1970, according to its website. It has 10 other locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The buyers of the property were the three executives of Greenwood Industries, which is headquartered on Lincoln Street in Worcester and has nine other locations throughout New England. On Thursday, Greenwood announced it has acquired Hudson Valley Roofing in New York.

The property at 55 Crescent St. is nearly half an acre and includes a 14,100-square-foot facility. The entity registered to Fields has owned the facility since 1998, according to Worcester city assessors’ data.
