Yamaha would like Toprak Razgatlioglu in MotoGP, but factory team is unavailable

Toprak Razgatlioglu was the 2021 World Superbike champion with Pata Yamaha, and is directly linked to the Iwata-based manufacturer. Several times he has been pointed to a future in MotoGP, but from the statements of the Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, Lin Jarvis, that is unlikely to happen soon – not for lack of interest from the manufacturer.

At a stage when the priority is to renew the contract with Fabio Quartararo – a scenario in which there will be no vacancy at Monster Energy Yamaha – the man in charge admitted to speedweek.com that he would like to see the Turkish WSBK rider make the leap into MotoGP: ‘I think it would be exciting for him and exciting for the MotoGP World Championship if we could bring a character like him into the premier class with such exceptional bike skills.’

Kenan Sofuoglu, Razgatlioglu’s agent, has stated on more than one occasion that interest in MotoGP only exists in a factory team. However, Jarvis has ruled this out at this point: ‘The WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP would be the only option we can offer him in the short term.’
