CarParts.com to Test Automation in Jacksonville Distribution Center

By Kristin Broughton

Carparts.com Inc. plans to add robots at a Jacksonville, Fla. distribution center that’s slated to open later this year, said Ryan Lockwood, the company’s senior vice president of finance.

The company aims to boost productivity in the center–which will be its sixth nationwid–by minimizing the time workers spend pushing carts, he said.

The company will consider rolling out the technology to other facilities, he said.

CarParts.com this year also opened a distribution center in Grand Prairie, Texas, which helped boost sales, Mr. Lockwood said.

The company said Tuesday it generated $582.4 million in net sales during the fiscal year ended Jan. 1, up 31% from a year earlier.
