These startups are disrupting India’s supply chain ecosystem

NEW DELHI: Owing to the offline nature of logistics, the pandemic was a crippler for many businesses whose supply chains were interrupted, delayed, or in some cases completely broken down.
While this challenge persisted across sectors, including automobile and manufacturing, among others, there were several logistics startups such as Shipsy, Biddano, Agrigator and Pickrr that not only grew during this period but also enabled holistic growth for their stakeholders.
Shipsy, for instance, is a SaaS based smart logistics management platform provider that empowers global businesses to optimize, automate, track, and simplify end-to-end supply chain operations. Last year the company raised $6 million in a Series A round led by Sequoia Capital India’s Surge and existing investor Info Edge.
Biddano, a B2B healthcare supply-chain platform, assists in creating a seamless supply chain for healthcare supplies. Founded in 2016 by Talha Shaikh and Ashok Yadav, Biddano leverages its holistic technology platform to empower offline healthcare businesses.
“The B2B healthcare supply chain is largely a blue-ocean opportunity that can be augmented through technology,” said Talha Shaikh, co-founder, Biddano. “The pandemic created a significant vacuum for timely and efficient deliveries of healthcare supplies.”
Similarly, Agrigator caters to the primary sector of the Indian economy through tech-enabled solutions. The startup empowers the businesses in their end-to-end journey by helping in processes such as cost effective procurement, transportation, financing options, online trading of grains, banking needs, and an efficient marketplace for connecting fuel, insurance, and other partners.
“Agritech is one of the sunrise sectors that is expected to fuel the economy,” said Charu Chaturvedi, co-founder, Agrigator. “Agrigator was launched in 2019 to democratize the grain value chain in India. We have been successful in enabling seamless transactions for all the parties involved through our real-time data that facilitates us to provide superior quality control.”
