COLUMBUS, Ind. – The 13th annual CANstruction event, annually hosted by United Way of Bartholomew County and Nexus Park is being reimagined this year.

Supply chain issues have precluded many of the build teams from getting the canned and non-perishable goods needed to erect their structures. However, United Way and the registered teams are still committed to ensuring community food pantries remain stocked.

Each team will still donate the limited canned goods they have. All are working to raise money and sponsorships to support the three food pantries that benefit from the event: the Community Center of Hope, Love Chapel, and the Salvation Army.

“The fundraising event is needed more than ever as food pantries in the community are seeing record need. Canned donations are down because larger canned good donors are under the same supply chain issues as the teams,” said Kelly Daugherty, executive director of Love Chapel.

You can still support your favorite CANstruction team by going to uwbarthco.org and clicking on “CANstruction 2022.” Each team that has registered for the event has a personal fundraising page.
