About 12,000 new homes planned for southeast Austin neighborhood near Tesla factory

Developers said that Easton Park’s final build-out of 12,000 homes could take eight to 10 years.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Easton Park master-planned community in southeast Austin is preparing for almost 12,000 new homes, according to a report from the Austin Business Journal (ABJ).

The Easton Park community is located southwest of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, near the Tesla factory.

According to the ABJ, the civil engineering firm Consort Inc. recently submitted plans to the City of Austin for a 300-unit apartment building on vacant land within Easton Park. Developers also submitted plans for 200 new single-family homes on lots currently platted for condos.

Developers told the ABJ that Easton Park’s final build-out of 12,000 homes could take eight to 10 years. As of now, just under 1,000 homes in Easton Park have closed, though many more have been sold, the ABJ reports.

Several businesses are also opening nearby. A CVS is currently under construction and the area is expected to get a car wash, a Summer Moon Coffee shop and a McDonald’s soon.

Zonda, a residential real estate data firm, ranks Easton Park as No. 4 for builder activity in the Austin area, the ABJ reports. The neighborhood has eight builders and home prices range from $234,000 to $674,000.
