Lawmaker Discusses Supply Chain Issues For Upcoming Holiday | Raccoon Valley Radio

U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne

As people continue to shop for Christmas gifts, one Iowa lawmaker is encouraging people  to shop local.

Iowa’s Third Congressional District Representative Cindy Axne says with the current supply chain issues, supporting small businesses might be the best way to shop. Axne explains how she is working in the House to address the supply chain problems.

A lot is happening because shipping isn’t going as quickly. We need more truckers on the road, we need more products being imported and exported out of the country, and we’re working on that with things like the Ocean Shipping Reform Act that was just passed.”

The Ocean Shipping Reform Act is to create  growth and development of U.S. exports and promote reciprocal trade in the common carriage of goods by water. Axne also says to order your gifts as soon as possible. She states that don’t forget that gift cards to local businesses are also a great idea for Christmas.
