WESTFIELD — Target has restarted plans to build a distribution center on 126 acres of vacant land it owns near Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport, promising to create 175 temporary construction jobs and employ 520 permanent workers once the 648,500 square-foot facility opens.
The retail chain predicts 1,200 vehicle trips a day generated by operations at the warehouse, according to an environmental notification form submitted this week to the state and on file with the city planning department.
The site is bordered by Route 202 to the north, land owned by the airport to the east, Falcon Drive to the south.
