US Supply Shortage Surging Demand

Shipping containers were stacked over a truck at the Port of Los Angeles on Nov. 10, but intervention by President Joe Biden is credited with reducing the supply-chain slowdown.

Case closed

In early October, this newspaper called on the Missouri Democratic Party to publicly explain why it had fired an employee who claimed he was the victim of union-busting. That’s not an allegation the pro-labor party wants on its plate. Having finally settled the case, the party has now explained the firing, saying the employee was moonlighting for one Democratic candidate in a contested primary.

That is, in fact, a clear conflict of interest for a party employee with access to internal information about other Democratic candidates.

Ben Conover, a former data director for the party, had alleged in a National Labor Relations Board complaint that he was fired to “discourage” union-organization activities by party employees.

As we wrote on Oct. 2, the party’s silence on the issue was damaging its reputation. The party should have publicly offered its defense up front rather than let it drag on for months.

No worries. Omicron is just a Democrat plot

Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, a retired Navy rear admiral, was the former White House physician to Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, which tends to suggest he’s a professional of significant standing within the medical community. Jackson certainly exploited that presumed status when he ran for Congress in 2020 to fill the seat vacated by the respected (and politically moderate) former Republican Rep. Mac Thornberry. Thornberry apparently recognized Jackson as an unhinged Trump extremist and made a point of campaigning for Jackson’s opponent.
