The paddy procurement through 2,399 primary cooperative societies for Kharif season 2021-22 will commence from December 1 across Chhattisgarh on minimum support price.
The procurement will be done from 22.66 lakh registered farmers. The target is 105 lakh tonnes, an official communication said on Tuesday.
The government in the current year has started 88 new paddy procurement centres to facilitate the farmers, a Food and Civil Supplies Department communication said.
The paddy procurement will conclude in January.
Similarly, maize procurement will commence on December 1 and end on February 28.
The average good variety of paddy support price has been fixed as Rs 1,940 per quintal, paddy Grade A the minimum support price is Rs 1,960 per quintal and maize will fetch Rs 1,870 per quintal.
The requirement of gunny sacks is 5.25 lakh bales. The state has received 86,000 jute bales against a procurement order for 2.14 lakh bales.
The state government has arranged 1 lakh gunny sacks through Public Distribution Shops and Rice Millers while arrangement of 1.13 lakh bales has been made from the open market.
Farmers can sell their produce through their own gunny sacks.
Nodal officers have been appointed for transparent paddy procurement. They will monitor the procurement daily and resolve issues that arise.
The department has deployed joint team of police, revenue and food department at the borders with neighbouring states to prevent illegal transportation of paddy.
