Alibaba logistics arm launching China – Korea sea freight service

Cainaio Network is launching a six time a week sea freight service between Shandong province in China and  South Korea to cater for parcel shipments from AliExpress.

According to Canaio the direct shipping route will enable Korean customers to receive parcels within five days and in some areas just three days. The 12-hour voyage will also reduce shipping costs by up to 30%.

“The launch of a direct sea freight route will accelerate the overall shipping efficiency from China to South Korea, further fueled by our full-chain logistics services including digitalised customs clearance and last mile delivery,” said William Xiong, Cainiao’s chief strategist and general manager of exports logistics.

In October 2020, Cainiao announced the launch of its logistics and supply chain services to support South Korean businesses and Cainiao in June this year inked an MoU with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) to operate as the official logistics partner for small and medium-sized enterprises in South Korea.
