We’re only two days away from Thanksgiving, so grocery stores have been jammed-packed as families get ready to prepare their meals.

Items are flying off the shelves in the middle of supply chain shortages.

“It’s crowded in there and there’s not much left so if you’re last-minute shopping you better get out now,” Stefanie Peterman of Hyde Park said.

Peterman was at the Kroger in Oakley for the second time this week.

“I found my cool whip today but some of the other items like the good cheeses and stuff they’re just not they don’t have it,” Peterman said.

Others did most of their shopping early.

“It was pretty easy they had everything I wanted, and actually, I bought a little extra like the flowers,” Karen Broadus of Silverton said.

This year, preparing early sometimes still isn’t good enough.

Sweets and Meats barbeque has been cooking turkeys around the clock.

Supply chain issues are making the process more difficult than ever.

“I just closed down shop at Sam’s Club so I’m out in Eastgate right now,” owner Kristen Bailey said.

Bailey spoke to us in the middle of trying to find much-needed products.

Despite ordering her turkeys months in advance, she still doesn’t have enough for all the families who want one.

She’s also short on other supplies.

“I just went and got a bunch of pan lids right now, some of the shortages that we’re having and at Sam’s Club, they only limit you to ordering two per month in many cases,” Bailey said.

Obstacles this year for both businesses and shoppers.

“I mean even last year with everyone being locked away there was still supplies and we were all freaking out about toilet paper, so I don’t know this year way worse everything’s pretty empty,” Peterman said.
