Tanzania’s cotton-lint procurement rose 36% to 48,213 metric tons in the third quarter compared with the prior-year quarter, the Bank of Tanzania said Monday.
The amount of cotton purchased rose from 35,447 tons in the year-ago period, the central bank said in its quarterly economic review.
The increase was attributed to good weather conditions and availability of agricultural inputs, such as seeds and fertilizers, the bank said.
The world cotton A index unit price rose 45% to $2.22 a kilogram in the third quarter compared with a year before, it said.
