Dickson County Help Center’s turkey giveaway hit by supply chain crisis.

The global supply chain backlog may leave locals who depend on the Dickson County Help Center for their Thanksgiving meal without food unless the public can donate food, said the center’s executive director.

“It has been hard to locate a grocer to order extra bulk for us because they are limited,” said Renee Boehm, the executive director.

The Help Center’s Big Turkey Give Away is Nov. 22 at the Dickson County Family YMCA. Help Center leaders need any donated food by Nov. 19, if possible, Boehm said.

All food items are needed at this time, she said, but the biggest need are green beans, corn, and instant potatoes.

The Help Center has turned away volunteers from working to distribute the food because they currently don’t anticipate enough need with the food supply being so low.

“The only way we can pull this off is by the Grace of God and with YOUR help!” Boehm posted on the Help Center’s social media.

In addition to Dickson County residents, Boehm said the nonprofit Help Center will assist citizens of Humphreys, Hickman and Houston counties affected by the August flood.

Donations accepted Monday-Saturdays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
