Northern Serbian Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smiths

This month, Smets Food Trading started importing apples from Northern Serbia. They’re packaged under the ‘Sappy’ label. “We’re currently packaging three varieties – Red Delicious, Golden Delicious & Granny Smith,” says a spokesperson for this Dutch produce wholesaler.

“The ‘Sappy’ brand represents quality. The apples are GlobalGAP packed. We supervise the process; that’s a requirement for us. That’s how we distinguish our apples.”

“‘Sappy’ brand products are of high quality and attractively priced. At present, there are significantly fewer apples available in Europe. Prices are considerably higher than in other years too,” concludes the company representative.

The ‘Sappy’ label will be expanded toward summer. It will include fruits like cherries, apricots, and plums. These will all come from Baltic countries.
