More than 100 Amazon employees were evacuated when a fire broke out late Tuesday in a warehouse in Middlesex County.
The fire began about 11 p.m. inside the Amazon distribution center at 22 Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road in Cranbury, according to a worker at the building.
Alarms went off and smoke wafted through the building and supervisors began yelling for dozens of workers throughout the building to head outside, according to the employee. There were no reports of injuries.
Video from the scene showed firefighters on the roof of the facility appearing to break out skylights as large plumes of white smoke drifted from the building.
The nearly 1 million-square-foot warehouse is the largest building on the property and serves as one of Amazon’s New Jersey’s fulfillment centers.
Fire crews from surrounding towns remained at the scene until early Wednesday. Fire officials were not immediately available to comment. Amazon officials did not immediately respond to a request for more information early Wednesday.
