Paint factory suspected of pollution at sewage plant

A paint factory is suspected of having released waste water into the public sewerage system.

PUTRAJAYA: A paint manufacturing and sales factory in Rawang, Selangor, is suspected of releasing prohibited effluent into a sewage treatment plant owned by Indah Water Konsortium.

The national water services commission SPAN said a surprise inspection of the plant was made after a complaint from Indah Water.

The factory was suspected of illegally discharging red paint manufacturing waste water into the public sewerage system which then flowed into Indah Water’s sewage treatment.

The commission said the pollution did not involve contamination of water resources which might lead to work being halted at the water treatment plant.
