‘Paddy procurement can be enhanced if FCI permits rice deposit’

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday that if the Centre through Food Corp of India (FCI) sanctions early permission to deposit rice, arrangements for procurement of paddy on minimum support price can be enhanced.

Baghel was speaking at a public meeting at Pamgarh in Janjgir-Champa district.

He added that if the permission is granted, then the lifting of paddy for milling will commence and the procurement centres will have enough space to store the paddy.

Adequate measures have been undertaken to ensure the procurement of gunny bags to purchase paddy from farmers. The gunny bags are sought from the traders and are also being taken from the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Hassle free procurement is being ensured for the farmers. He announced to name the square in Pamgarh in the name of the first MLA from the constituency, Bahurik Lal Suryavanshi.
