Gebrüder Weiss and Chinese logistics company Global Freight System have set up a joint venture for parcel transport between China and Europe, with the former holding 65 percent of the Shanghai-based Gebrüder Weiss Express China.

The growing trend towards e-commerce means that the volume of parcel shipments between Asia and Europe is also steadily on the rise,” a spokesperson noted. “We are now pooling our expertise in Europe and Asia with the aim of addressing both Asian and European e-commerce companies.”

The company operates branches and offices at 19 major transport hubs in the Greater China region, and runs its own offices in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia and Armenia.

It offers air and sea freight, railway and multimodal transport, as well as special logistics solutions, including warehouse logistics, local distribution and parcel transport. Some of its customers include HILTI, 3M, Nespresso, and HP, according to the company website.
