Amidst speculations of two-and-a-half-years tenure for Chief Minister going on since the time of Congress Government formation in State, the ruling Congress Government is all set to complete two years in office now. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) extends its best wishes to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, as well as to Ministers T S Singh Deo and Tamradhwaj Sahu and demands one-time payment against paddy procurement in the interest of farmers.
Describing the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana as an Unnyay (injustice) scheme, the BJP State President Vishnu Deo Sai while expressing his deep concern over delayed payment to farmers against paddy procurement, has urged Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T S Singhdeo to reminisce his challenge, that if farmers do not get the difference amount, he will resign.
Sai said that after four days, paddy procurement for the current Kharif Marketing Season is going to commence although with a delay of one month, in such a situation, State Government, which is deceived the farmers, has not been able to pay the full amount of the last year’s dues till now, it is not only unfortunate, but an evidence of deceit and cheating with farmers in the name of Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana. He said that either State Government pay the final installment of MSP difference amount before commencement of paddy procurement or Panchayat Minister Singhdeo should tender his resignation as per his challenge.
Sai said that by claiming that he is a farmer son, one cannot befriend farmers. He said that the Chief Minister should take lessons from the Panchayat Minister that despite being Number-2 in the government, he is showing courage to come forward and offer resignation in the interest of farmers. He has asked the Chief Minister to clarify whether the farmers will be paid before the initiation of fresh paddy procurement.
Terming that injustice is being meted against the farmers by paying paddy procurement dues for previous season in installments. Despite new crops having been harvested and procurement on the verge of commencement, it is truly injustice that the previous season’s pending amount is yet to be paid.
Sai called upon Interim AICC President Sonia Gandhi to intervene in the matter and demanded one-time payment in the interests of farmers.
