Change of Plea Hearing Held for Montana Man Charged With Heroin Distribution – Sheridan Media

A change of plea hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 25-year-old Robert Kenitzer. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Kenitzer pleaded guilty to the charges of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance- Heroin, and Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver- Heroin.

Kenitzer was arrested on May 29 of this year following a traffic stop on Interstate 90 near Sheridan. Following a search of the vehicle, three of the four occupants, including Kenitzer, were arrested for heroin possession and distribution. The three defendants, all residents of Montana, were on their way back from Denver, where they had picked up a large amount of black tar heroin with the intent of distributing the drug throughout Montana.

The plea deal recommends a sentence of 2 ½ to 4 years in prison, suspended in lieu of a split sentence of 6 months in jail and three years of supervised probation. District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and set the date for sentencing for January 14 at 9 am. Judge Fenn revoked Kenitzer’s bond and remanded him to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center to await sentencing.
