Keller named to Supply Chain’s top female professionals list | Business

PRESTON — Charlene Keller, senior director of enterprise accounts at Choptank Transport in Preston, is recognized by Supply and Demand Chain’s Women in Supply Chain list.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive celebrates its 20-year anniversary with the introduction of a new award designed specifically for women leaders in the supply chain industry.

The Women in Supply Chain award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

Keller has been a positive force in the logistics industry since she joined Choptank in 2007. With a background in sales at one of the largest poultry producers in the country, Perdue Farms, Keller is familiar with the importance of an efficient supply chain.

Being a role model for other women in the logistics industry is important to Keller, and she likes to lead by example.

“Mentoring others in the workplace is a large part of my philosophy,” Keller said. “The team members I work with are our future leaders and I am glad to see more women in prominent logistics positions than ever before.”

Geoff Turner, president and CEO at Choptank, was pleased to get the news about Keller’s award. “Charlene is one of our most valued leaders at Choptank. This award is a true reflection of the dedication and commitment she has shown to others and the company. It is well-deserved,” he said.

“We received over 200 entries for this new award, entries that were submitted from a combination of men and women. This proves that our industry needed an award like this, especially in conjunction with Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 20-year anniversary,” said Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics.

“According to Gartner’s 2020 Women in Supply Chain Survey, 17% of chief supply chain officers are now women — a 6% increase compared to 2019. This award represents females supporting other female leaders, men supporting their female counterparts. It represents the future — a future shows that it’s a great time to be a part of the supply chain industry. So, congratulations to these top female leaders. I look forward to seeing what else you do to grow the supply chain industry.”
