Procurement season will expose Opp lies on farm Bills: JP Dalal

Accusing the Opposition Congress of trying to “mislead” farmers at a time when reforms have been initiated in their “favour”. Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal said that the Congress party’s “lies” on the Centre’s farm reforms will be nailed during the crop procurement season beginning in the State from October 1.

The Agriculture Minister claimed that all the farmers of the State are busy in crop cultivation in their fields and farmers did not participate in the protest backed by opposition parties. “When procurement will go on smoothly, farmers will come to know the lies the Congress is spreading and realise that the reforms are for their benefit,” he added. Dalal said BJP workers are meeting farmers across the State to make them aware about the benefits of these reforms.

The Minister said that Congress leaders are spreading white lies that the MSP mechanism will be dismantled and the mandi system will break, both of which are untrue,” he said.

The farm Bills are not an alternative to the entire system but an option for some farmers to go for direct marketing. But they (opposition parties) are projecting as if these will become an alternate system in itself and by spreading falsehood, they are trying to build up an agitation. He said currently a majority of farmers sell their crops in mandis at the MSP.  Dalal assured farmers that the legislations are in their interest and said there will be no change in the existing MSP or ‘’mandi system’’.
