In an effort to guard against myths being circulated on various platforms, we bring you our segment on Fact Checking and Mythbusters.

It is a myth that Procurement at Minimum Support Price will stop after the implementation of Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020. The Agriculture Ministry has clarified that Procurement at Minimum Support Price will continue and farmers can sell their produce at MSP rates. The Ministry said, the MSP for Rabi season will be announced next week.

The Ministry said it is also a myth that under contract farming, farmers will be under pressure and they will not be able to determine prices.

The Agriculture Ministry has clarified that the farmer will have full power in the contract to fix a sale price of his choice for the produce. It said, they will receive payment within maximum three days.
