75 violate single-use plastic ban in Yamunanagar, challaned : The Tribune India

Yamunanagar, July 2

The Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) Municipal Corporation has issued challans to 75 wholesalers, owners of banquet halls and shopkeepers for selling single-use plastic products here.

“For now, we have issued notices to 75 persons and warned them that if anyone was found selling or using single-use plastic products, action will be taken against them under Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act,” said Dheeraj Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner, MCYJ.

He said two teams under the supervision of Chief Sanitary Inspectors Surinder Chopra and Harjit Singh had been formed to stop the sale of single-use plastic products, adding that members of the teams went to every wholesaler, shopkeeper and owners of banquet halls to issue them notices today.

Madan Chauhan, MC Mayor, said teams had been formed to take strict action against persons found using single-use and other banned plastic products in areas falling under the jurisdiction of the corporation. — TNS
