The 59th NMD Awards (National Metallurgist Day) distribution function was organised by Bokaro Steel Plant in the auditorium of Human Resource Development Centre of BSL. The Director-in-Charge of BSL, Amarendu Prakash, was the chief guest at this function. Executive Director (Projects) R. Kushwaha, Executive Director (Works) and IIM, Bokaro Chapter President Atanu Bhowmik, Executive Director (Material Management) VK Pandey, Executive Director (Personnel and Administration) Sameer Swarup, CGM IN (Finance & Accounts) Suresh Rangani, Chief General Managers and other senior officers along with award winners were present. Apart from these, senior officers and personnel from various departments were also associated with the program in on-line mode.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest and special guests by lighting Lamp and garlanding the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. In his remarks, the Chief Guest DIC Prakash congratulated all the departments, groups and employees who received the 59th National Metallurgist Day Awards. He said that Team BSL needs to move continuously in the direction of setting new benchmarks of excellence and making the call of a better month every month. He also gave a message to each department to keep striving for their continuous improvement by marking three parameters of excellence. After this, awards were distributed for outstanding work in various categories. First of all, the Chief Guest presented the Shop Performance Awards in three categories. Among the main units, Coke Oven & By Product Plant got first prize, Hot Strip Mill and HRCF jointly got second prize and Sinter Plant and SMS-New jointly got third prize. Oxygen Plant Department got first prize in Auxiliary Shops, RGBS got second prize and Iron Copper Steel Foundry & Pattern Shop and MRD got third prize. Among the service departments, Capital Repair – Electrical Department got first prize, R&C Lab department got second prize and Traffic and EMD department jointly got third prize. Apart from this, NMD Group Awards were given to 327 personnel in different groups.
The programme was conducted by the Deputy General Manager (RCL) Sunita Minj. The NMD awards were announced by Senior Manager (RCL) R Sriharsha and Manager (PPC) Rashmi Bharti. In the end the vote of thanks was given by the Chief General Manager (Quality) PS Kannan.
