4 vehicles sink off Quezon port after cargo sea vessel tilts

Three dump trucks and a van sank Friday (June 10) in the waters off the port of Real town in Quezon province after the sea vessel carrying the vehicles tilted on its side, police said.

LUCENA CITY — Three dump trucks and a van sank Friday (June 10) in the waters off the port of Real town in Quezon province after the sea vessel carrying the vehicles tilted on its side, police said.

Real, Quezon police said as LCT (landing craft transport) Balesin Cargo Vessel was balancing its position at the port after loading the vehicles at 2:45 p.m., the left portion of the sea vessel tilted, causing the vehicles to slide into the water.

No one was reported hurt in the incident.

The sea vessel was reportedly bound for Polillo island.

Police are conducting further investigation.

On May 23, nine passengers died when fire broke out on fast craft Mercraft 2 near the port of Real.
