Factory Five Racing, the Wareham, M.A. specialty automobile customizer and replicar manufacturer has been cranking out kit cars and one-off builds since 1995. They recently rolled out the V-12 powered “Romulan” supercar that was well received at SEMA in 2019. But they are perhaps most well known for their line of Cobra kit cars. It’s the bread and butter of their operation after all. In celebration of 25 years of their iconic Cobra Roadster, they’ve created a limited edition run of 25 MKIV Cobras. Let’s see what they look like and what the 25th Anniversary Edition is all about.
The FFR 25th Anniversary Prototype
Factory Five produced special editions for their 15th and 20th anniversaries, and customers were expecting a similar release to celebrate the quarter century mark as well. They did not disappoint. They’ve just rolled out the prototype of the MKIV # 000, and it’s chock full of both old and new FFR parts. And while production is limited to 25 units, the prototype will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
What It’s Got
Starting with their beefy ladder frame, FFR applies a special bronze powder coating, aluminum foot boxes and wheel wells are also powder coated black, and she’s fitted with Wilwood disc brakes all around. The MKIV also has an independent rear, Koni adjustable shocks, and 18″ Bronze Cobra Sunburst style wheels all around. And while these kits are only turnkey rollers (sans motor and transmission), the prototype pictured above has the new Ford 5.2 liter Aluminator engine cranking out 580 hp! Seems like a good choice to me!
