£1m cannabis factory raided by police at industrial unit

Officers seized around 1,000 plants from the premises on Middlemore Road, in Soho, Smethwick, on Sunday evening – which led to the arrest of one man.

The 43-year-old was detained on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and released on bail, while investigations continue.

West Midlands Police has appealed for anyone with information to get in touch, quoting crime reference number 20BW/17105F/21.

A spokesman for the force said: “We carried out a planned drugs warrant at an industrial unit in Middlemore Road, Soho, Smethwick, on Sunday evening and around 1,000 cannabis plants were found.

“One man, aged 43, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He has been released on conditional bail as investigations continue.”
