19-year-old factory worker dies in industrial accident

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A male factory worker died in an accident at a tile factory in an industrial park near here on Monday (March 14) at 11.30am.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the 19-year-old victim was cleaning a concrete mixer machine in the factory when the incident took place.

“Initial investigations showed that the victim was cleaning the internal parts of the machine when it suddenly rotated,” he said in a statement Tuesday (March 15).

ACP Dzulkhairi said it caused injuries to the victim’s head and shoulders.

He said a friend of the victim, who witnessed the incident, rushed to turn off the machine and called for another friend to help remove the victim from inside the machine.

“The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic and pronounced dead by a doctor,” said ACP Dzulkhairi.

He said the initial investigations showed there was no foul play in the incident.

ACP Dzulkhairi said the body was sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for Covid-19 swab test and autopsy.
